The Ideal Director will Possess:
- First-hand experience working with veterans or the military community; preferably a veteran themself.
- Extensive experience in nonprofit leadership, financial management, and fundraising, complemented by a demonstrated ability to mentor and develop team members, drive strategic initiatives, and balance budgets to ensure successful program outcomes.
- Demonstrated excellence in internal and external communications, fostering strong relationships with staff and board members while effectively representing the organization through grant proposals, public presentations, written communications, and one-on-one engagement with donors, veterans, and volunteers.
- A true collaborative spirit, working in tandem with team members, bringing passion, integrity, and a positive attitude while authentically supporting veterans in our programs.
The Director’s Core Focus is to:
- Work collaboratively with the Wyakin team and programs to achieve greatness, using thoughtful evaluation and nonprofit management best practices to consistently reach and exceed our goals.
- Actively engage, motivate, and build meaningful relationships with our staff, volunteers, board members, committees, alumni, donors, sponsors, and community partners.
- Work together with our board to build on our strategic direction, developing the growth of the Wyakin Idaho office as well as our Midwest Chapter initiatives.
- Proudly represent Wyakin at public speaking engagements, media appearances, and fundraising and community events.
- Cultivate partnerships in new markets and build genuine relationships with community leaders to help expand our fundraising reach.
- Champion Wyakin nationally, serving as a passionate external voice, sharing program stories to inspire regional and national support.
Qualifications for this Position:
- College degree and 5+ years senior leadership, nonprofit and financial management experience.
- Preference for veterans and/or profound experience and genuine passion for serving the military and veteran community.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams to greatness and implement real strategies to achieve organizational goals.
- Proven success in fundraising, donor cultivation, sponsorships, grant funding, and business development.
- Experience partnering with boards and teams with a track record of success in building relationships and advancing public engagement.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to connect authentically with individuals and groups across a variety of backgrounds and disciplines.
